Slow Practice

Whether you are a new beginning student or a seasoned player, the best, most productive practice is SLOW PRACTICE.

I know, I know, you like to see how fast you can play. The surest way to get to play fast is to practice slow, and really listen to yourself. Listen to your tone quality, are you pleased with how you sound? Listen to see if you are giving every note its full value. Listen to your intonation, are you playing some notes flat or sharp?

So if you want to really make progress, move slowly through your lesson or whatever music you are wanting to master. If the music calls for a metronome marking of 120, try playing it at 60 until you feel like everything is working for you, then take it up and you will be very pleased with the result.
